BANDA WESTFALICA REMIX CONTEST – THE WINNERS

BANDA WESTFALICA REMIX CONTEST - THE WINNERS

We received more than a dozen contributions in our Banda Westfalica remix contest, ranging from interpretations with a Zouk Bass vibe to Steve Reich Marimba variations and even big room house remixes. Obviously it was really hard to pick the best two versions, but eventually we decided to choose the remixes from Doblhoff & Wiesflecker and Motin. Doblhoff & Wiesflecker impressed us with their twisted Afro Beat take on “K Le Pasa”, Motin´s tropical club version of “Hands Up” is programmed to get dancefloors ignited. Congratulations to the winners, many thanks for all other particpants for sending in their versions.

Listen to the winning remixes below. The full remix EP will be released March 11th. Watch this space for more news!

BANDA WESTFALICA REMIX CONTEST

Remix Contest

Banda Westfalica, the German percussion ensemble which released their debut EP “Versions” early 2013, is now scheduling a remix EP with a selection of re-intepretations of their versions of original tracks by Schlachthofbronx, El Dusty, Daniel Haaksman, So Shifty or Dutch Rhythm Combo.

Now you have the chance to take part in a remix contest in which you can pick the stems of two tracks from the EP, “Hands Up” (originally by Daniel Haaksman) or “K Le Pasa” (the So Shifty version, originally by El Dusty). If you like the crisp sounds of a live played Marimba and dope percussions (no Plug-In used in the original recordings), this contest should be for you!

K Le Pasa:

Here´s the rules:

1.) Submission deadline is Monday, February 3rd, 2014

2.) Please only send unmastered tracks, leave some headspace in the pre-master!

3.) Please use the Man Recordings Soundcloud dropbox to send in your version (we won´t accept any download links)

4.) The best three remixes will be officially released on Man Recordings in March on the “Banda Westfalica Remix EP”, alongside remixes by Chong-X, Castro, Criolina, Gijs Scheeringa and Alma Negra. The winners will be announced Friday, 7th of February.

DIN DAA DAA REMIX CONTEST – THE WINNERS

DIN DAA DAA REMIX CONTEST - THE WINNERS

Daniel

Gee, this was a tough one! We received almost thirty remixes for our “Din Daa Daa” remix contest, and we got quite a few big remixes in our Dropbox. Naturally, about one forth of the contributions were Moombathon remixes, but then we also received a lot of housey reworks and a few pretty crazy ones. All in all it was great to get this great feedback, a big thank you to all remix contributors: Fed-Ant, O.live.R, HVK Remix, Hüpersonique, Laundrymix, Shantaram, DJ Smooch!, Gimmix, Sven S, Rootkitt, Nagumo, Ducks On Repeat, K.T.I.T., DJ Avatar, Hac Mac, Playground Bounce, Vidám, EJ Flores, Frederic De Varvalho, Hung Like A Horse, Chong X, Hush Hush Pony, Veit B , Keos Peet, Teazz, LA Yute and Technobears.

Some remixers immediately published their remixes which kind of spoilt the nomination procedure, nevertheless, after listening to the remix contributions all weekend, it was eventually clear who were the stand out remixers:

Our #1 is by Boogaloo

Our #2 is by Chong X

Our #3 is by Teenage Mutants

Boogaloo´s remix will be officially released on the “Rambazamba Remixed” compilation, out April 6th on Man Recordings!
