DJ PICKS #3 WILDLIFE!

Wildlife

After sizzling hot selections by Schlachthofbronx and Douster, our very popular Man Recordings archives crate selection series, DJ Picks, continues with another volume. We are proud to present that #3 is picked by longtime Man Recordings friend Wildlife! from Bern, Switzerland.

Wildlife! made his first big splash when producing Terry Lynn´s debut album “Kingstonlogic 2.0″ and has since remixed Poirier, Marina & The Diamonds, The Very Best, Beware+Motorpitch and many others. With sudden and strong support from key DJʼs all across the globe, his debut solo EP “Jumbie”, released in fall 2009, had dancefloors bubbling for well over a year. The follow up, the “Buckup” EP in 2010 is still banged out in clubs today.

Wildlife Small

In between wrapping up the final tracks for his 2012 debut full length album, crashing together British punk rock legends and Jamaicaʼs dancehall avant-garde, Wildlife! chose his favourite picks from the Man Rec back catalogue with. Naturally, they´re on the bass side of tings, featuring tracks by Ku Bo/ Stereotyp, Seiji, Bert On Beats, Big Dope P´s block rocking remix of Bert On Beats or Wildlife!´s very own classic rework of “Pororoca” by Beware + Motorpitch plus many more.

Listen to the selection below and cop ten, still damn hot tracks from the Man Rec back catalogue for just 5.99 € now!

MAN-RECORDINGS--DJ-KICKS--douster

We have been a long time fan of the productions of Hugo Douster . Perfectly fusing Jamaican digital rhythm science with international club heat, Douster has steadily released quality music ever since we put out one of his first internationally released tracks on Man Recordings (”Puta Que Pariu”) for #8 in our Funk Mundial series early 2009. At the time he was still located in Buenos Aires and aligned to the ZZK crew, today he´s based in Lyon, France and is releasing on Mad Decent and Sound Pellegrino amongst others, and regularly DJs around the world.

DOUSTER

After Schlachthofbronx put together #1 in the DJ Picks series, we figured to ask Douster for his selection. For DJ Picks #2 Douster choose a lot of original baile funk tracks by Rio De Janeiro artists such as DJ Edgar, Amazing Clay or DJ Sandrinho as well as international interpretations of baile funk by Feadz, DJ C or King Tutt, keeping an eye on the roots of our label´s sound. Some of the tracks have been steady guests in many DJs playlist but are still fresh, others deserve an appropriate DJ re-discovery.

Hugo, merçi! Ton selection c´est chouette!

MAN RECORDINGS DJ PICKS #1 : SCHLACHTHOFBRONX

MAN RECORDINGS - DJ PICKS1 Kopie

What we have released on Man Recordings so far since 2005 has become a sizeable catalogue. Some of the tracks from our 250 plus strong set have faded it memory or have not yet been discovered but are still piping hot, e.g. Crookers “Para De Graçinha” is a track which is still playable today after all these years, the same for Seiji´s “Todo Mundo”, or the just recently released remix of “Kid Conga” by Dubble Dutch – just to name a few. With tracks by the who´s of who of baile funk but also its big name European and American adaptors, we figured it´s about time we ask our favourite DJs to pick their favourite tracks from the Man Recordings back catalogue.

The first volume in the series comes from our beloved Munich partymeisters Schlachthofbronx, who have put together a selection of club ready, dancefloor shaking tracks some of you may not heard before or which have been so ahead of their time it only makes sense to play them out now. On Amazon and Itunes you can get the whole bundle of ten tracks for just 5.99 € or 5.99 US$, you probably can´t start an impromptu party cheaper than that.
