Man 089 VARIOUS ARTISTS "BEST OF MAN RECORDINGS - CELEBRATING 10 YEARS 2005-2015"

Ten years in the world of dance music is like a century in real life. Dancefloor trends come and go in fast pace and so do record labels, especially in times of social media platforms such as Soundcloud through which artists can build world careers without having a record deal. Nevertheless, record labels still serve as compasses, followed by listeners surfing on the giant music ocean of MP3s . Selecting only the very best music, accompanying a release with proper designs, picking remixes, helping in creating a music video and marketing ideas, labels are not only orientation tools but still important partners in artists careers.

Man Recordings has proven to be a record label in the classic sense. It has picked hot new producers when they were hardly known, accompanied them while riping to become real artists and guided numerous projects to outstanding performances leading to globally known club anthems and pop hits.

On Man Recordings it was e.g. Diplo that released his first international remix in 2005. Crookers broke on Man Recordings internationally with their “Funk Mundial” debut and shortly after released their “Day N´Night” world-hit. Schlachthofbronx had their first internationally recognised single, “Ayoba” ft. the then unknown MC couple Spoek Mathambo + Gnucci. Junior Blender, one half of Hamburg´s So Shifty, which have been close to Man Rec for years, today co-produces Major Lazer. Last but not least Madonna got inspired for her “L.O.V.E. Madonna” song by the Man Recordings released hit “L.O.V.E. Banana” by João Brasil ft. Lovefoxxx. The list of anecdotes and ties of underground talent raised on Man Recordings and their influence and effects on global bass and international pop superstardom is long and continuing.

Now Man Recordings celebrates ten years of releasing amazing transnational club music with some of the best tracks from its catalogue. The compilation “Best Of Man Recordings – Celebrating 10 Years 2005-2015” includes some of the best and sucessful tracks and remixes by artists such as Diplo, Crookers, Riva Starr, Seiji, Lovefoxxx, Schlachthfobronx, Seiji, Edu K and Man Recordings label boss Daniel Haaksman himself amongst others. It´s a tiny review of the more than eighty releases (and more than 350 tracks) released on Man Recordings over the stretch of a decade.

To accompany the celebration of the label´s ten year anniversary, we´ll feature various stories on our blog surrounding the ten years in business, featuring photos, anecdotes, tracks and videos of our label´s joyful and long musical journey. In the meantime, listen to the compilation and buy it from these fine shops below!

MAN 070 SO SHIFTY FEAT. MADERA LIMPIA - RUMBA EP (FREE EDU K REMIX DOWNLOAD)

MAN-070.jpg Big

So Shifty from Hamburg, Germany have been long time associates of Man Recordings. Their remixes for Beware+Motorpitch´s „El Toro“ as well as their remix of El Dusty´s 3ball hit „K Le Pasa“ have been on heavy rotation around the world for a while and recent remixes for No Doubt, Busy Signal, I-Octane, Chan Dizzy, Popcaan, Shal Marshall and others have been popping up left, right and centre. Their high-powered sound system DJ sets are considered to rank among the most powerful shows on the current tropical bass scene.

SO SHIFTY

Now it´s high time for the Nordic power duo to release an original release. It features the mighty Cuban trio Madera Limpia, who in an earlier incarnation released their seminal „Loco“ track on Man Recordings in 2008. Madera Limpia are based in Guantanamo, the infamous town home to the American war prison ( still in operation under Obama rule) and contributed an amazing song to the waist-shaking beats of So Shifty. Call it a summer hit even now that summer has already peaked – or simply a big, tropical tune that fuses Reggaeton rhythm patterns with contemporary Moombah sounds.

The EP is heavily loaded with remixes that features a wide range of tropicalists from all over the field. Man Rec boss Daniel Haaksman gave Madera Limpia a another remix treatment and with his tropical trance twist, made it ready for the clubs. Chong-X from Peru, currently considered one of the hottest remix tickets in the transglobal bass field, gave „Rumba“ a heavy Moombathon treatment, right up there with his other recent remixes for Torito Bandindo or Rawpa Crawpa. Legendary Brasilian MC/DJ and producer Edu K, Man Rec´s first released artist, returns after a two-year musical hibernation with a surprising North Brasilian / Bahian take on „Rumba“. Additionally, there´s german Club dons BassIllEuro from Stuttgart bringing „Rumba“ to the Moombahton crowds, with an uptempo version of So Shifty’s anthem. And last but not least it´s time for the Austin-based Peligrosa crew (from the blog/label/DJ-collective) to give „Rumba“ the Texas treatment.

MAN 030 Madera Limpia “Loco”

MAN 030 Madera Limpia "Loco"

Man030 LOCO-207px []

ARTIST: MADERA LIMPIA
RELEASE: LOCO – DANIEL HAAKSMAN REMIX
CAT.NR.: MAN 030
FORMAT: 12“ Vinyl
DIGITAL RELEASE DATE: JULY 11TH, 2008
VINYL RELEASE DATE: JULY 18TH, 2008

With Madera Limpia, Man Recordings temporarily moves from it’s Brazilian focus and looks up to the Carribean for an exciting new band – Madera Limpia. This band is the sound of young Cuba. Real, contemporary, explosive, and far away from the nostalgic cliché of Buena Vista Social Club. The six musicians from Guantánamo fuse Son and Changui with Hip Hop and Reggaeton, mixed with pulsating beats. Their music mirrors the culture and everyday life of a new generation which listens to hip hop, dancehall or reggaeton but doesn’t ignore the vast musical traditions of Cuba. Madera Limpia texts reflect real life. Instead of joining the rest of the lot recycling the worn out myth of the colourful decaying Havana, cigars and rum; they talk about the hardships of life in a burnt out Cuba on the verge of change; with only music to ease the pain.

madera

When Man Recordings label boss Daniel Haaksman was asked by Munich based Out Here records to remix Madera Limpia’s „Loco“ he was so enthusiastic about the parts he got sent that he locked himself up in a studio to create a mix of Madera Limpia that would fit his booty bouncing DJ sets. In his hands-up in the air, 100% booty shaking mix the melodic and rhythmical power of the original track was injected with pure dynamite: A bouncing uptempo beat, a thundering bass drum and a raved-up synth hook. This is „Loco – the Daniel Haaksman Remix“ which has been destroying dancefloors everywhere ever since Haaksman sent out promo MP3s of his remix to befriended DJ mates, such as Sinden, Diplo, DJ Beware or Zombie Disco Squad.

Eventually, Haaksman dedcided to license his remix together with the original track to Man Recordings releasing it in a loud, DJ friendly volume on vinyl. The remix introduces the release of Madera Limpia’s upcoming hot new album „La corona“ on Out here records in September 2008.
