Here at Man Rec HQ we have a new favourite label. It´s Moveltraxx from Paris, run by DJ and producer Big Dope P. With their open-arm music policy to anything ghetto, be it Juke, Bmore, Ghetto-Tec, or Bounce, this label is Europe´s most promising bridgehead to the US, with a very strong connection to the current Chicago scene. With artists like DJ Tameil, Traxman, Emynd or DJ Rashad, Moveltraxx releases the top cats in the ghetto game, but also looks to what happens in Europe bootywise including remixers such as Sinden, Oliver $, Douster and others, thus establishing a cross Atlantic music exchange. The most amazing tune of the moment is Big Dope P´s juke remix of Berou & Canblasters “Kapongo Dance” which shows how fresh rap can sound like in 2011:

Besides, Moveltraxx run their own radioshow which is also worth checking out:

Watch out for two Big Dope P remixes coming out on Man Recording soon!

This is the End

this-is-the-end

This has certainly been the year that the Chicago Juke/Footwork sound has come to the fore, I’m not a huge fan, but being over forty I firmly believe it is not aimed at people like myself, in fact I think its primary intent is too annoy the hell out of anyone over 25. The pure repetition of Juke does lend it a minimalist charm and it does have functionality, as all the videos on youtube demonstrate. However, this is a great piece of Juke appropriation by Traxman, using that hoary old monster “The End”by the doors.  (via davequam.wordpress.com)
