YELLOW UMBRELLA - NO PEGIDA FT. RONNY TRETTMANN

Germany recently saw the rise of an new right wing social movement, the “Patricotic Europeans Against Islamisation of the Occident” (In German that is “Patriotische Europäer Gegen die Islamisierung Des Abendlandes” = Pegida). Largely an East German phenonmenon, with the city of Dresden as its main hub, this movement has become a reservoir for neo-fascists, hooligans, unemployed and frustated pensioneers that has been organizing huge rallies with tens of thousands of participants to protest the purported Islamization of Germany. The Pegida marches created a heated and controversial media coverage in the German press on how to deal with refugees and religious minorities (in an ageing society with fear of change and under the pressure of neoliberalism). Now German reggae band Yellow Umbrella released their song “No Pegida” ft. Leipzig singer Ronny Trettmann and the song all sums up what´s wrong about this movement and its demands.
