Man 086 Daniel Haaksman - Sabado ft. Bulldozer

Man 086 Cover Small

What´s a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon? One option is to drive out of town to the beach and hang out with your friends. Crank up the volume of your car stereo and enjoy your own music selection while sipping beers and puffing joints.
Now imagine this scenario in a sub-saharan African metropolis of today. Add a bit of a traffic jam before you reach the beach, think of car stereos that blast out selections of Afro House, Kuduro, Kizomba and African Rap. And soon you are close to the vibe that Daniel Haaksman´s new single “Sabado” is all about.

“Sabado” is a laid back uptempo track that puts the listener to an imaginary car park party on an African city beach front. It features the mighty guitar licks of Colombia´s Bulldozer, but has an allover South-African feel to it. Yes, Paul Simon´s “Graceland” is an influence here, but also all the hot new house track that comes out of South Africa and the Portuguese speaking African countries such as Angola and Moçambique. Consequently, the tune is called “Sabado”, Portuguese for “Saturday”.

Early DJ support by Crookers, Poirier, Toy Selectah, Round Table Knights, So Shifty, Samim, DJ Sabo, Shir Khan (Exploited) and many more!

LUSO FM #100 ON FUNKHAUS EUROPA

Daniel Haaksman just celebrated the one hundredth volume of his weekly radio show Luso FM on German public radio station Funkhaus Europa. In little more than two years, despite being presented in German language, Luso FM has become a global reference to new sounds and artists from countries such as Angola, Brasil, Portugal, Moçambique and Capo Verde.

In Luso FM #100, Daniel presents the most played songs and talks about guest mixes and the rising wave of cutting edge sounds and grooves from the Portuguese speaking world which developed largely unnoticed outside the Anglo-Saxon dominated, online media world we live in. Over it´s one hundred show stretch, Luso FM presented genres like Kuduro, Baile Funk, Tecno Brega, Funana, Kizomba, Ku House, Favela Trap or Pandza and displayed the music´s countless trans-atlantic relationships and diasporic roots. One hundred volumes of Luso FM have shown that music from the lusosphere (“Luso” meaning “Portuguese speaking” (anaolgous to Francophone for French speaking)) has become an important force in global dance music to reckon with. If you missed out any past shows, check out Daniel´s Luso FM playlist on Soundcloud which contains 97 of the 100 last presentations. Man Rec says Big Up!
