Position Normal remixes Schlachthofbronx
February 28th, 2010A while ago I went to the Position Normal website and ordered the Goodly Time LP (buy it! It’s only five quid and it’s wonderful!). Position Normal’s music is difficult to describe, it is as English as a cup of tea and a buttery crumpet, and uses guitar, samples, loops and extracts that recall Britain of a bygone era. It is a sound that is deliberately lo-fi but at the same time very evocative. It is the predecessor of the sound that has been labelled “Hauntalogical” and that the label Ghost box has gone on to develop and explore. Listen to the ASDA mix by Moon Wiring Club at TheWire.co.uk, and you can hear the influence.
I started exchanging some e-mails with the aforementioned Mr. Normal, and he showed a curiosity about our own Man Recordings, Daniel sent him some Schlachthofbronx track parts and below is the result. I like this a lot, it’s someone who is worlds away from the Man universe putting their own stamp of eccentricity on what is already a bonkers Bavarian baile pile up. vive la différence!
