As you may have heard, we´re about to release the best tracks of the Funk Mundial compilation on CD on April 20th. The CD launch celebrations officially started last Saturday, with a release party kick off at our bi-monthly Man Recordings night at Scala. Sinden, who provided “Tamborzuda” in the Funk Mundial series together with Herve, came over from London to rock some bass, supported by Mr.Wix from Parra Sound System Amsterdam and myself. Phra from Crookers just sent us this exclusive snippet from their upcoming album. There will be songs in autotune, dancehall riddims, and Phra toasting in Italian – right next to vocal contributions by Kanye, Kid Cudi, Yelle, Tim Burgess, and Rosin Murphy amongst others. But as Phra sings: Volevi l´album ma noi non ce lo abbiamo….., so we gotta wait a little bit more for it. But we´ll keep you posted.

Say kids, what time is it? It´s Thursday. And it´s time for Tim Turbo. One of the few young Berlin DJs / culture impressarios that keeps us inspired these days, Tim is running a cool, weekly Podcast titled, err, “Tim Turbo Thursday”. Hosted by our sister-blog SEEN, the Tim Turbo podcast presents 360 degree music awareness – just how we like it. Check out also his latest remix for Movado, running tings!

João Brasil keeps the Lambada alive with this remix he’s done for N.A.S.A’s “Whachadoin”, leaving just the vocals and chorus from the original.

NASA are DJ Zegon (José Gonzales) and Squeak E Clean, Squeak E is apparantly director Spike Jonze’s brother and Zegon is a Brazilian Hip-Hop dj who used to live in the states, worked with Money Mark amongst others and may be now living in São Paulo. He has done interesting production work for Os Racionais and Marcelo D2, the two biggest hip hop acts in Brazil and djed hip-hop extensively in Brazil but now seems to be playing gigs with artists like Mixhell and has entered mash-up culture – though his hip-hop sets always did feature a healthy selection of rap rock bootlegs.
